This memorial website was created in the memory of my son, Jeremy Doyle who was born in Indiana on June 01, 1981 and passed away on August 18, 2005 at the age of 24. We will remember him forever.
Jeremy Doyle is survived by his mother and step-father Debbie and Dale Grove, Pocomoke City, MD, his father John Doyle, Martinsville, IN, his sister Cameron Doyle and nephew Bryston Massey, Pocomoke City, MD, Maternal Grandparents Bob and Pat Quinnette, Pittsboro, IN, his paternal Grandparents Bud Doyle, Columbus, IN, Peggy Summers, Tucson, AZ. Also cousins Lauren & Shelby Quinnette, Brighton Michigan, cousins Heather, Magen, and Steven Keith Quinnette, Indianapolis, Indiana, Joe Doyle and his family, Gail (Doyle) Yates and her family, Julie Doyle and her family.
Jeremy was born June 1, 1981 in Indianapolis, IN. He moved to Pocomoke City, MD in September of 1998 to live with his mother and step-father.
Jeremy was always surrounded by family and friends, he loved with his heart. Jeremy was an individual who was everything to everyone.... He was JEREMY. He had a heart of gold and his smile was contagious. Jeremy had the best sense of humor and could "no doubt" make you laugh.
His greatest accomplishment was graduating High School. He struggled most of his life in school, his sister Cammie always got better grades than he did, but we only expected what Jeremy could give us. Jeremy was known as the "Class Clown" but loved by most of his teachers. Jeremy dropped out of school after his junior year and moved to Maryland to live with his mother. He completed his senior year at Worcester County Vo-Tech school. His teacher Diane Stultz was the best thing that ever happened to Jeremy. Jeremy was a bit lazy when it came to writing anything down on paper, every time Jeremy laid the pencil down, Mrs Stultz was right there to pick it up and hand it back to him. She pushed him and he appreciated every minute of it. Jeremy graduated with good grades and he owed it all to Mrs. Stultz. He would try and go and visit her every time he came home on leave.
Jeremy had a special gift for accepting people the way they are, Jeremy loved everyone unconditionally. When Jeremy was in his early teens he met a young man named Joey who had Downs Syndrome. Jeremy would go down to Joey's house and spend hours playing video games with him, that is what Joey liked to do. He would do that several times a week, that is the type of person Jeremy was. Joey's family treated Jeremy like one of their own.
When Jeremy was growing up we had very good neighbors all around us. We had special neighbors that took to both of my children and treated them like they were their own. Lloyd and Debbie Martin lived across the street from us on Tucson Drive in Indianapolis. They have 2 daughters of their own Kristi and Julie Martin. Jeremy always called Lloyd and Debbie, mom & dad and called the girls his other sisters. Kristi got married to a wonderful guy named Danny and they had a beautiful little girl named Starr. Jeremy treated her like she was his daughter, (spoiled her rotten) he loved her so much. Starr was 8 when Jeremy died.
He enlisted in the Army on August 12, 1999. He did his basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. He graduated from Boot Camp as an Armor Reconnaissance Specialist. Jeremy's first assignment was with the 2nd Battalion 37th Armor Regiment in Germany then went to Kosovo and Macedonia in 2001. He was stationed at Ft Stewart, GA from there and was in the 3rd Infantry Division in February of 2002 and was assigned to the Scout Battalion 69th Armor Regiment. In 2003 Jeremy was a Scout Squad Leader, Jeremy completed one tour of duty in Iraq and was on his second tour when he was killed.
Jeremy will never be far from our hearts, our thoughts, or our prayers... He is always with us. Jeremy's love will never die.
PLEASE LEAVE AN E-MAIL ADDRESS IF POSSIBLE.

SENATE CONGRESSIONAL RECORD dated September 6, 2005 Senate HONORING ARMY STAFF SERGEANT JEREMY DOYLE
Mr Bayh: Mr. President I rise today with a heavy heart and deep sense of gratitude to honor the life of a brave soldier who attended high school in Indianapolis and whose family resides in Pocomoke City, MD. Jeremy Doyle, twenty-four years old, died on August 18, 2005 when his vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb in Samarra, Iraq. With so much of his life left before him, Jeremy risked everything to fight for the values Americans hold close to our hearts, in a land halfway around the world. Although he did not call Martinsville home, Jeremy's impact on the town was demonstrated by the hundreds of families who lined the town's streets for three and one-half miles as his funeral procession wound through downtown. At the funeral, family members remembered Jeremy as a jokester and a soldier who deeply loved his family and the U.S. military. A commander of an armed humvee, Jeremy was on his second tour of duty in Iraq having returned to Iraq after being slightly wounded last spring while he tried to deactivate an explosive. His uncle Joey told the crowd gathered at Jeremy's funeral service, "(Jeremy) will forever be my hero." I stand here today to express the same feelings of pride and gratitude for this young man's sacrifice and those made by his family on behalf of our country. Jeremy was killed while serving his country in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division, stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia. This brave young soldier leaves behind his wife, Leah McGinnis Doyle, his mother Debbie Grove: and his father Johny Doyle, and his only sister, Cameron Doyle, and nephew Bryston Massey. Today I join Jeremy's family and friends in mourning his death. While we struggle to bear our sorrow over this loss, we can also take pride in the example he set, bravely fighting to make the world a safer place. It is his courage and strength of character that people will remember when they think of Jeremy, a memory that will burm brightly during these continuing days of conflict and grief. Jeremy was known for his dedication to his family and his love of country. Today and always, Jeremy will be remembered by family members, friends and fellow Hoosiers as a true American Hero and we honor the sacrifice he made while dutifully serving his country. As I serch for words to do justice in honoring Jeremy's sacrifice. I am reminded of President Lincoln's remarks as he addressed the families of the fallen soldiers in Gettysburg. "We cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here. have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here." This statement is just as true today as it was nearly 150 years ago as I am certain that the impact of Jeremy's actions will live on for longer than any record of these words. It is my sad duty to enter the name of Jeremy Doyle in the official record of the United States Senate for his service to his country and for his profound commitment to freedom, democracy and peace. When I think about this just cause in which we are engaged, and the unfortunate pain that comes with the loss of our heroes, I hope that families like Jeremy's can find comfort in the words of the prophet Isaiah who said, "He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces." May God grant strength and peace to those who mourn, and may God be with all of you, as I know He is with Jeremy. |
